Does this annoy anyone else?

Or how about the classic: "let's grow our network. Like and comment on this post if you're open to connections..." 🤢

In my opinion, this is a sure-fire way to get engagement, but is it even effective?

By using tactics like this you aren't providing any real value.

You aren't targeting your audience and creating brand affinity.

You're simply getting likes and post views.

What's this worth?

I don't know, maybe I'm just grouchy today...

What do you think?

Genuine Connections = ⬆️ Sales

Genuine Connections = ⬆️ Sales

I just had an incredible conversation in the LinkedIn DMs with someone that I really look up to.

He posted a story and I sent him a quick message related to what he was talking about in the story.

This turned into an amazing GENUINE conversation about our businesses and goals.

The intention of this conversation wasn’t to sell.
I wasn’t spamming him.

Instead, I was building a real relationship.

We are now talking about potentially collaborating and doing business together.

The Right (and wrong) Way to Sell

🙏 Please, please, please!

🚫 Stop sending a sales pitch right after connecting.

I understand that social media networks are great sales tools, but it’s not the right way to do it.

Instead:

🌱 Cultivate relationships.
💬 Engage with content.
💡 Provide Value.

THEN talk about your services.

👇🏻 Tell me about the worst LinkedIn sales pitch you’ve received.

My first business was an absolute failure...

❌ My first business was an absolute failure... 🚫

I grew up in a large family. My Dad, a small business owner and entrepreneur, taught me to work hard and dream big. I remember some of my favorite moments with him were talking about business or coming up with new business ideas.

⚡️ When I was 16, I started a business with a goal to sell and install wind turbines and solar panels. I contacted a manufacturer, and even became an official reseller.

😩 I didn’t sell one wind turbine or solar panel.

🙌🏻 That said, I learned valuable skills. I built a website for my little business. Admittedly, it wasn't a great website, but that was the start to the path that I'm still on today.

🤔 Was it really a failure? I guess it depends on how you define success and failure. What metrics do you use to measure them?

Tell me about some of your "failures"! 👇🏻
