π€ Selling Services vs. Selling Value π€
βΌοΈ Spoiler Alert: Selling value is better.
I've been thinking a lot about this lately.
**Iβll use my business as an example:**
I can say that I provide:
- Branding
- Websites
- Podcasts
- SEO
- Digital Marketing
- ...
OR, I can sell:
- Business growth
- Clarity of vision
- An audience
- More leads
- More sales.
What's better?
Obviously itβs better to sell value.
There are millions of website designers in the world. If I simply sell websites, my potential clients could literally go anywhere else and receive the same service. Selling value on the other hand lets them know what transformation you can create in their life. Itβs much harder for competitors to compete on that.
PS: My LinkedIn headline will be changing soon. I don't think "JMH Media. βοΈ Creating Brands | π₯ Websites | π Podcasts | βπ» Content | π₯ Digital Marketing" fits my new vision.

Does building a brand take too much work?
If I'm honest, I think about this almost every day. It takes a lot of energy to consistently show up. It takes a lot of effort and time... Is it even worth it?
I'd argue that it is (that's probably not a surprise though).
You see, it's precisely BECAUSE it is so hard that it is worth it.
Let me explain - If building a powerful brand was easy, everyone would have one... and then no one would. Marketing is about STANDING OUT from the competition. In order to stand out, you have to be doing something they aren't.
Put in the work. It'll be worth it! :)

Read PostI've been thinking a lot about friction lately. Especially as I'm working from home and have more distractions than ever before.
Friction is simply a tool in our toolbox. Are you using it to your advantage?
β« We should increase friction in the things we want to stop doing. (example: move distracting apps to a distant page and folder on your phone).
β¬ We should decrease friction for the things we want to do more (example: I've started putting a book next to my bed so I read more often).
These ideas are not my own :) Thanks to Nir Eyal and his book, Indistractible, for helping me think about this.

How do you go about pricing conversations? Put all of your tips and tricks below ππ»
While I'm no expert on this subject, my personal opinion is to just say it how it is.
If you're too expensive for them, no big deal you weren't a right fit.
If you could have gone higher... no use stressing over it now!
What do you think?
